Gloucester Brass was formed in 1992 from a small nucleus of experienced players joining with some enthusiastic learners of various ages.
It has grown steadily, now numbering over 30 players, ranging from 13 to 80+ years of age. You are never too old to learn and enjoy this fascinating pastime! For twenty years the band was led by Roger Pearman, who succeeded in creating a real sense of commitment and shared enjoyment in music-making amongst all band members, whatever their musical background. Roger decided to retire from the position of conductor and musical director in 2011, handing over the baton to Mark Knight, a long-standing member of the band with considerable conducting experience.
In 2017 Amanda and Steve Clark joined the band, Amanda already having considerable experience in conducting bands agreed to take over from Mark Knight as conductor and musical director. This has enabled Mark to return to playing the cornet/flugel horn.
Under Amanda's leadership, the band has continued to progress and expand it's repertoire whilst still having an enormous amount of fun along the way!
